Artist description
The sound of Pondus can be difficult to describe. With their originality, however, they are hoping to make a difference on the Norwegian music scene. The plot, so to speak, of Pondus’ music is the use of contrasts. The music stretches from sweet pop to the hard and the raw. When the members of Pondus are asked for their inpiration, a vast array of influences are mentioned: The Cure, Miranda Sex Garden, Nine Inch Nails, The Doors and Bjõrk are some. |

Artist History
Pondus was started in the beginning of 1996, brought to life by singer Agnete Maria Kjølsrud and an oboe player named Kristine Gulhav. In the beginning there were frequent personnel changes, but slowly the current line-up was formed.Pondus have since 1996 tried to establish their name on the Norwegian music scene. In the early stages of their career, Pondus participated in some competitions - and won all of them. The first competition gave them some money along with the opportunity to record some songs in a studio called Pan. The second competition they won sent them on a tour of Norway. Rikskonsertene (Norwegian Concert Institute), covered all expenses and took care of all arrangements. On the tour, Pondus played Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, Sandnes, Drammen, Ås and Bø in Telemark. During the fall of 1997 Pondus recorded an EP containing five songs, "Boy in the Bubble", at Endless Sound Studio in Oslo. It was released in the spring of 1998.
