Electrostatic
"Awake Alone"
(Louipimps Records)
This is a hugely impressive breakbeat album from a band who used to be only known on the net, being voted best electronic act on mp3.com a couple of years ago. But now this album proves their ability in the beats and breaks department, their pedigree being underlined by the fact that their tracks have been licensed for use in the new Matrix film. The tracks here are full of driving rhythms and subtle female vox, with the only drawback being that a third of the nine tracks on here are remixes of other tracks. It’s quite telling that it’s one of the few albums I reviewed this month that everyone in the office commented on being great, and it’s only the doubling up of the remixes that stops this one being our Album of the month.
9/10 Lisa McGee (Future Music - UK) |

Additional Info
Electrostatic is very much a live band. They strive to perform a live show that has the energy of a rock band, not just two guys behind some equipment turning knobs like most electronic shows. |
