Artist description
Sicboy's sound is could be defined as hard rock in its most basic sense. Yet the band strives to create an original sound. Heavy and yet sometimes ambient guitar, melded with a punchy bass and percussion, completed with melodic and often distressed vocals. |

Artist History
Sicboy was formed in late summer 1996 out of Stamford CT by founding members Drew and Chris Trudeau, and Anthony Valenzisi. John Tate joined the band in early 1997 adding his unique vocal stylings. Rick Weed came into the fray in mid 1998 to add additional rhythm and sometimes lead guitar. They recorded a 4 song demo in spring of 1998 at the Carriage House Studios in Stamford. And since then have been playing out and have developed quite a following via the internet. Their demo has received rave reviews as well as extensive radio airplay gaining the attention of established artists like Korn, the deftones and Far. |

Press Reviews
"In the days of copycat bands, I get so many damn demos of bands that are carbon copies of such bands as Korn, the Deftones, and Limp Bizkit. I don’t understand why everyone insists on sounding the same as so many other bands. Fortunately, Sicboy has an original sound. “Nelly” is a slow grooving song that kicks in at just the right moment. “Ink” is another good track. At times singer John sounds similar to Jonathan Davis, but he definitely has his own style. I like the fact that their music isn’t 100% aggressive; in fact it’s more groove-oriented. A great band, I would definitely recommend checking them out. Not to mention that their web site is very nice and very professional looking." -Smother
"This is a good little 4-song EP. "Ink" reminds me of what Sonic Youth would sound like if Thurston Moore grew up on thrash-metal, and "Channel 14" has a hard-funk groove that seems to owe more to Gang Of Four than Rage Against The Machine. I doubt those bands have been an influence, but the point is that Sicboy has a fresh take on hard rock and so deserve your support. I wish them well and look forward to further releases." - Jim Santo's Demo Universe.
"Over here in the UK, the town of Stamford has Midget; in Stamford, Connecticut, the resident band is Sicboy. Having zero in common with the cheery popsters from England, Sicboy have a distinct sound all to themselves, Tool and Life Of Agony are their nearest relatives but they're a good half hour bus journey away. 'Nelly' kicks things off snappily before sweeping into the superb 'Ink'. Vocalist John Tate has a unique voice for such a band in that he can sing, but can still turn on the Jonathon Davies scream when it's needed. 'Channel 14' lets the side down a bit due to the chorus being a bit embarrasing in comparision to the rest of their material, but it still has some good riffing." -Twang.
