    Artist History
    J. BLUE Lyrics that rivet your soul to your mind. Music fueled by each dimension of life. A distinct voice that like a chameleon metamorphoses with the mood of a song. . .but make no mistake about it, this chameleon is only one shade. . . J. Blue. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, J. Blue writes and performs dance/blues/funk music with a hard edge. But his music is beyond a standard description; as J. himself puts it, “the music emulates life. . . it’s bits and pieces of life molded into a style that really isn’t a style.” To put it simply, J. Blue’s songs are fueled by a passion that stems from his Native American roots and an inherent spiritual nature. Through his music, he aspires to intertwine Native American spiritual beliefs that all at once come across as inspirational yet musically powerful. Just witness his fiery stage presence and one will see these very roots and impassioned soul in action. J. was born with music in his blood, for by the time he was five he already received his calling to music. From his childhood through his teenage years, J. learned to play various instruments - violin, piano, drums, bass, guitar, sax, and harmonica, to name a few. All of which eventually contributed to the multi-layered sound he produces today. After high school he joined Top 40 bands and then eventually original acts in his native Boston, MA area. However as time went on, J. Blue evolved as a solo artist and not just as a musician, he worked behind the scenes in the musical and theatrical worlds and as an actor, including the film “The Last Of The Moheghans.” More recently his talent was brought to the attention of respected producer Kirk Johnson, who is most well known for his extensive production work with Prince, as well as being Prince’s drummer. Kirk heard J.’s material and immediately expressed interest in working with him. This led to J. temporarily relocating to Minneapolis where he did some recording work with Kirk as well as live performances in the Minneapolis area with other members of Prince’s band. Last year he returned to Boston and continued work on his solo material. Although the project is still in progress, initial response, such as from the famed MIDEM Conference has already elicited excellent response. A preview of J. Blue’s new material has just been released, but in the meantime to see and hear J. Blue perform, to feel his words and witness them brought to life is an experience in itself
