Artist History
Gelf'ling first appeared in 1997, consisting of Phil Alexander, Craig Moxey, drummer Bart Kowalski, and Bassist Michael Draper. Playing for two years in this format, the band temporarily disintegrated when Michael mysteriously disappeared on a butterfly trapping expedition.
The band faded further with Phil working in his band Created Equal, and Bart continuing work in his band Season.
Craig was left scratching his head and returned to his work as merchant banker and high flying property tycoon.
After one particularly lengthy drinking session with next door neighbours Michael Brown and Jarod Flemming, the idea of having a jam with percussion and acoustic guitars arose. Using a secret, coded phone line Phil was called and agreed to participate.
The first rehearsal was marred by bad breath, temper tantrums and continual phone interruptions by fellow group Bardot, requesting that Phil join as the new, fifth member. He declined.
By the end of the day, It was agreed that Gelf'ling should continue. Many more rehearsals, and tantrums later, the time had come to play to an audience...
Bayed by the positive reaction of BOTH audience members, Gelf'ling aspired to bigger and better things. Maybe four people in the audience, maybe six, even the holy grail: an audience of double figures.
This, of course, came to pass. The repertoire expanded, as did the use of instruments; two acoustic guitars, two vocalists, djembes, darabukas, clapsticks, didgeridoos, spring drums, squeaky chairs, and hair curlers.
Having existed now for more than six months, it was high time to record some music. Luck prevailed on this point, with Gelf'ling winning two days studio time, courtesy of the 3PBS radio station's annual subscriber marathon.
The session was long and arduous (multiple injuries were sustained) but the results were promising.
At this time, the number of enchanted listeners was growing, the gigs were getting larger, and the band members more arrogant.
At present, Gelf'ling look forward to playing frequent shows, recording more music, and negotiating peace treaties throughout the world.

On a serious note, Gelf'ling would like to thank EVERYONE that has supported us, helped us, and played with us. We always have a great time and hope you do to.
Cheers!
Phil, Craig, Michael, Jarod.
