Press Reviews
Darkened Soul is an artist found on mp3.com. I have obtained a high quality cdr of this project (the product of Mike Soucy,
also known as Darkened Soul). This album is definitely relaxing to listen to. The title track from the album "Dreamscapes"
is a refreshing cool blend of ambience and uplifting synth drones. The fourth track "Dreamscapes Part 2" is a companion
piece to the title track, and is a continuation of this cool atmospheric vibe present at the beginning of the album. Track 2
"Drifting" is a darker track similar to the Raison D'Etre material that I have heard.
The later part of the album includes the shady track "Gravitational Nuances". This
track is the darkest within the album. It also contains some heavily processed vocals
which surprise the listener. The majority of this track is extremely unconscious. This
is perfect background music for sleeping or reading. The project name implies that part
of a "soul" is gone and replaced by the darkness. "Dreamscapes" is what a blank dream
would sound like. All of us have had them, you suddenly wake up from nothingness and
realize that you are alive. Perhaps "Darkened Soul" is onto something. It is definitely
worth the listen.
