Artist description
The Starside Eight
.....back in January 2001, JJ Starside (bass, vocals, etc) and James Eight (guitars, vocals, etc) got together and began an adventure...transforming James' basement apartment in Brooklyn, NY into Hitmaker Studio. There they started to experiment with sounds, forms, and melodies. Jamborees were held after their day jobs and anyone was invited as long as they brought an instrument and kept the noise down so the neighbors didn't complain. By the summertime, it became clear that all the songs recorded thus far were tied together in sounds and theme and should be released as an album. They called themselves The Starside Eight.
The album, Goodnight Noises Everywhere (released on Electric Frog Recordings), represents JJ and James making the most out of every musical situation available. The result is a sonic lullaby inspired by Big Star, Wilco, The Velvet Underground, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the lack of good rock music on the radio, and a summertime trip to Nashville, Tennessee.
The Starside Eight will be touring through the summer of 2002. If you see one band this year, then you need to see more bands. If you see more than one band this year, check out The Starside Eight.
