Artist History
The Novellas originated in 1994 when singer-songwriter
Peter Chance and keyboardist Laura Ogar started
performing in East Village spots as a duo.
Percussionists, drummers, violinists and bassists
followed, and their first CD, Magnets in Intimate
Places, was released in 1999. The last year and a
half has seen the addition of a permanent rhythm
section in Rob Cantwell and Tim Kealey, and a new
album is due in spring of 2003. |

Press Reviews
"artful, melodic, and imaginative to the brink of intoxication" - Mark Keating, Sound Views / "gravely irreverent tales of high-octane dramatic
enigma" - Linus Gelber, MusicDish.com / "Chance's tight, angry tenor and rich, swinging
folk-rock acoustic guitar are beautifully
complemented by Ogar's subtle, moody touch on the
synth and organ" - Jennifer Farber, Metrobeat NYC / "You'll expect Tim Burton to stand up and go,
'You guys want to play a gig at my house?'" - Peter Tahoe, wipe |
