    Artist History
In the early 80s and for quite a while, MDC was associated with San Francisco and San Francisco's peace-punk movement. MDC was relocated to Portland, Oregon in the early nineties and as is described later on, but now call Long Island, New York home. The main (and currently the last original member of MDC) is the singer and primary lyricist, Dave Dictor. Dave teaches school in New York. Originally known to many as the Stains (not the other band of the same name), but later changed to MDC, MDC put out (when still the Stains) their first two-song single as a 45 in 1981, containing their first classic hit and the still ever-popular "John Wayne was a Nazi" plus b-side "Born To Die." After their early 80's start, the MDC boys have released approximately one album a year, (give or take), continuing recently with full lengths 1993's Shades of Brown and most recently with Now More Than Ever, a compilation/20 year retrospective of the band's work. They play almost constant shows and tour nationally.

    Press Reviews
trouserpress.com Originally launched in Austin, Texas around 1980, this explosive political hardcore quartet (aka Multi-Death Corporation, Millions of Dead Children and Millions of Damn Christians) has long been based in San Francisco. Precise breakneck rock makes Millions of Dead Cops a powerful means by which to deliver messages like "John Wayne Was a Nazi" (originally recorded and released on 45 when MDC was known as the Stains) and "I Hate Work." Best title: "Corporate Deathburger." After the first pressing sold out, the LP was remastered and reissued, ultimately joining More Dead Cops on CD. Amazon.com (MDC is a) SAN FRANCISCO THRASH BAND WHO SET THE STANDARD FOR U.S. POLITICAL HARDCORE. SONGS INCLUDE "JOHN WAYNE WAS A NAZI," "VIOLENT REDNECKS" AND "BORN TO DIE." newbury.com MDC's terse 1982 debut was a blazing dose of funky, politically charged hardcore. Dave Dictor and company attacked issues like Phil Ochs on crack and backed up their high-speed manifestos (including "John Wayne Was a Nazi" and "Corporate Deathburger") with music that hit harder than Mike Tyson. They couldn't keep it up though, and More Dead Cops, the 1988 companion piece that fills out this disc, is a pale reminder of the band's early prime. The topics on Millions might seem a bit dated now, but none of the aggression does; Dictor jumps out of these grooves ready to rip your head off so he can pour his propaganda straight down your throat.
