In the last year Welkin has grown in many ways. The music is constantly evolving. Artist History Welkin started in in the summer of 97.Pepijn and Demis started a project with Jacob (ex-URN, ex-Locusta) aftertheir HC-band Pilgrim broke up. After a few weeks Maarten joined the band to become the singer. Jacob introduced Steven (ex-URN) in the band as 2ndguitarplayer. In April 98 Welkin played a first gig @ Decadance Gent with Euphorbia.They worked on new material and had some small gigs in the Gent-area.But in December 98 Jacob en Steven decided to leave the band.On 17 December 98 they played a last gig . In the months that followed Welkin found a new drummer and guitarplayer in Frank and Davy, who had been playing together now for a few months.But still they couldn't start because they had no rehearselspace.somewhere in April 1999 they finally found a space but by then Maarten had left the band to become vocalist for Manic Movement. So Welkin started out without a singer.New material was cooked up. Their where some gigs with guestvocalists as the band continued the search for a singer. In Januari 2000 some big changes are made.Demis gives up the bass to become the singer.And Welkin can announce the happy return of Steven, this time as bassplayer.So in Januari 2000 welkin is complete again.In the months that follow they work really hard to make a new start in the summer of 2000.In July they give a first gig and in August they start recording the demo "the untold" wich is released in oktober. 2001 is the year where Welkin shows Belgium what they stand for.They play about 15 gigs all over the country. Playing with some of Belgiums best bands,and getting to know loads of new people they keep having a blast on every occasion. Making new friends. what will follow is the future

Press Reviews GM2001 "Next up was a band we didn't new and so we didn't expect anything special. Well, Welkin just blew our socks off (and lot of girls thougt it were handsome dudes too).Their music deviated a lot from the other bands this night. They brought a modern mix between Death metal, Grindcore and Hardcore. Funny to see was that one half off the band also looked like HC-kids while the other half looked like a bunch of metalheads. Their music was refreshing and the vocals were really cool : grunts, screams and some yelling or whatever. The only downside was that they played a set that was too damn short."
