Artist History
I am Todd D. Bailey and I love to make music. I had a band once, it was a good band. We went through a number of changes before we got good. We used to suck ass really bad. It it all comes with practice. Here's our story:
Shattered Dreamz was a stage of my music making that was a definate learning experience for me. Shattered Dreamz was first brought together when I met Hyun (Henry) "The Dirty Mexican" Kim in the fall of 1997. We met in
college when we had a class together. He came up to my dorm and saw me and my roomate playing Final Fantasy IIV on Playstation. He then notice my guitar and asked who played. After I learned that he played bass,
we imediately got together to jam.
When then made friends with a young music major named Karen. She hung out with us while we were practicing one day and began to sing the songs we were playing. So we eventually asked her to sing for us in our band.
At the time, Karen was friends with Jeff, who played drums and was also looking for people to jam with. With higher forces at work, "BRAIN DEAD" was formed. As Brain Dead, we only played one show. It was the 1998
edition of the Mansfield University's Battle of the Bands which took place during Maplefest which is held in the spring. Man, I think we really sucked back then. Our set list was nothing but covers of Green Day, Blink 182,
Nirvana, and Offspring with a twist of two originals....one that wasn't even done!
We then went through some changes in the fall of 1998. Karen left us and we were now without a singer. I was still learning how to play and sing at the same time, so I couldn't fill the empty spot yet.
Henry never really wanted the lead vocals. This is where Steve came in. Steve lived next to Henry in the dorms and heard us playing one night. He then joined in by singing along and the whole process
began again. SHATTERED DREAMZ was born!
We lost Steve in the fall of 1999 after playing a number of hit shows. Me, Henry and Jeff were not a band anymore. Then I met Joe. Joe was another guitarist whose style wasn't exactly punk rock but he
played it in order to be in a band. We then met Chris who was an amazing drummer. The new Shattered Dreamz was unstoppable! That is, until Chris left us in the spring of 2000 after we played only one
MEGA-HIT show. Then Henry was deported to serve in his Korean Army for two years. Now there is just me and Joe, but Joe no longer wants to play, which leaves just me. |
