Artist description
LIGHT PUPIL DILATE dishes out their own distinctive blend of dark hard-edged rock. Performed with 2 distinct vocalists trading off lead and background vocals, their sound is eerie in harmony and bends like heated glass. Composed via beautifully brutal guitar lines, pummeling bass stabs, and heavy hitting drums. The three members of LIGHT PUPIL DILATE have arisen from different sonic battlefields to a crossroads of uniqueness. By incorporating hints of punk, metal, noise, rock, and progressive rock, LIGHT PUPIL DILATE's sound is uninhibited and finds wholeness within eclecticism. |

Press Reviews
Rock Detector Review: Maybe it's just me, but I've not been hearing a ton of great albums lately. Light Pupil Dilate's 'Cascades', however, has all the characteristics of a great album. The songs are musically interesting, lyrically substantial and emotionally driven. On first listen, Light Pupil Dilates comes across as a hard-core band with tendency towards King Crimson-y 70's Prog Rock. But, like all great albums, on sub sequential listens one comes to appreciate some of the subtle nuances in the recording. The songs have a complexity to rival Yes, but also an emotional component that Prog-Rock historically lacks. The emotion typically is anger, but not the vague mindless anger you might find on a Nu-Metal album. The Light Pupil Dilates lyricist is a pointed writer, rarely trite and never indirect. Make no mistake - the music is HEAVY. However, the three-piece also know when to hold back and let melody reign supreme. This is an awesome album for those who live for heavy bands but also think about their music enough to sit down and absorb the whole album in one sitting. This is definitely an album for anyone who can appreciate Metal, substantially heavier than Thrash, infinitely more interesting than Nu.
