Artist History Spontaneity can result in some amazing things. Take, for example, A Better Half. One night in the summer of 2001, an entertainment act was needed for a college event, so the nameless and barely practiced group volunteered to drive the two hours from San Ramon, CA to perform for fifty people. Starting with mostly covers, the band quickly wrote their own songs as they were offered more and more shows. A Better Half cycled through the San Ramon scene for the next year, winning a Battle of the Bands and headlining shows with other local groups Normal Like You and Locale AM. After a year of preparation, A Better Half finished their first CD, “Cue the Screaming Girls,” in April 2002. An EP of some of their most popular songs, the CD has been selling quickly and receiving airplay on local college radio stations. Support continues to spread, and the live performances given by Jared Casstevens, Brian Labrucherie, Alex James, and Ryan Casstevens constantly amaze fans. A Better Half has recently relocated to Sacramento and will continue to build a fan base with their fast-paced pop punk and lyrics that fans love to sing. With a list of appearances scheduled for the Sacramento and Bay areas, plus their first tour in the works, A Better Half will continue to leave their mark on audiences everywhere. A Better Half—proving with their spontaneity there will never be a dull show.
