Artist History
Growing up in Long Island, New York, these four musicians were exposed to a powerful punk rock scene at an early age. Combining their talents and interests, this quartet began playing shows on Long Island and in New York City as high school freshmen in 1997-98.
As the band continued to play, their style began to evolve. They took inspiration from bands such as Bad Religion, Dillenger Escape Plan, Strung Out, 311 and Poison The Well, just to name a few. However, the band's interest in music is very eclectic. Listening to a variety of jazz, jam, alternative and reggae as well as punk, 1080 created a very individual sound, which makes it difficult to compare them to most other punk bands. Perhaps it is this "custom" sound that has made the band popular because as the four dedicated friends continued playing, they noticed the accumulation of a following which consisted of loyal friends and dedicated fans who would enthusiastically dance and sing along with the band's lyrics at shows. Over the past four and a half years, playing shows every week at such venues as Coney Island High and the Continental, and opening for bands like Anti-Flag, The Ataris, Weston, Choke, and Kill Your Idols only helped 1080 increase the size of their fan base.
Now, in 2002, 1080 continues to play and they have customized their own form of punk rock. The music is fast, aggressive, tight, and melodic. The lyrics stem from strong beliefs and tend to be politically minded, socially observant and very emotional. 1080 plans on a continuation and further evolution of their individual style and will be doing a tour of the Northeast Coast this summer.

Press Reviews
1080 w/ Choke, the Showoffs, Explosivo, and Smackin' Isaiah.
February 25th, 2001
Venue: The Village Pub, Port Jeff
"This show was fucking good! There were actually like 8 bands that played, but I missed the first couple just cause I left late. The first band I saw was 1080. I saw with these guys a month before this and they were fucking great, and with this show they kept their reputation. They were so tight and the crowd was obviously there to see them because after they finished, the crowd left. Next up was the Showoffs. I love these guys. Though I get the feeling that they had a drink or two before they went on, and were'nt up to their usual par, but they still managed to rock. Congrats and good playing to their new member Chris also. Next up, was Choke from Canada. These guys were really good. They played NOFX type stuff mixed with a bit of Fugazi type stuff and really rocked out. They were jumping and very much crazy onstage and I was impressed. All in all it was a great show."
