Artist History
The Pilchards are two friends from Austin, Texas named Matt Morris and Bryan Keeling.
Matt writes the music, sings, and plays guitar, and Bryan is the drummer, percussionist, and producer.
Rarely do their talents overlap. Bryan is a veteran of the Austin music scene, having played in
local favorites such as Mr. Rocketbaby, Stringbones, and more recently the ethereal and flavorful
Eden’s Plot. Matt was one of his parents’ basement’s hottest acts until beginning a live solo career
in Austin in 1998. A chance meeting as neighbors in late 2000 brought forth a collaboration that
resulted in their February 2002 full-length debut Forever Before Now. Along with a little help from
their friends on keyboards, Forever Before Now is an emotional pop whirlwind of rock and psychedelia
that blends the passion and melody of the past with the technology of today. Following the release of
the record, Matt, Bryan, and friends began playing well-received live shows, as well as developing and
adding to their 80-plus song repertoire.
