    Artist description
The So Cali quintet, formed, born, and raised in Bakersfield are all 19 years old. They have a way of greasing the wheels of their well-worn formula (rock-punk-alt, scissor-kicked by occasional explosions into surf and prog-rock). The huge sound of raging distortion and monstrous beats, sweet ocean cleans, great melodies, and technical bliss will keep you listening. cur·va·ceous (kūr-va-sh s) - The constant musical curve of variation in its own (fresh new) pure fused formulation of surf, punk, and eclectic/art influenced progressive rock forming a curvaceous sound that's slow for not a change. Based out of Bakersfield California.

    Artist History
Original roots trace back to 1994 originally formed by drummer Brian Boozer and guitarist Jeff Gray. They were later joined by backing guitarist Chris Hunter in 1998. At this time they formed a truly unique musical style and sound. After hiring and firing many additional musicians, they found bassist Todd Douglas in the summer of 2001 and have been very successfull in playing many tour dates and recording a 5 song album.

    Press Reviews
"Believe that the world is catching on to you," sings Jeff Gray to everyone in particular on the title track of The Curves new album "Catching On". The album is an apropos revelation for the eclectic clan. The So Cali quintet has a way of greasing the wheels of its well-worn formula (rock-punk-alt, scissor-kicked by occasional explosions into surf and prog-rock). The huge sound of raging distortion and monstrous beats, sweet ocean cleans, great melodies, and technical bliss will keep you listening. Bringing back Gary Batsch and Sharon Marie, producers of the band's 1999 unreleased recordings, seems to have kept things in check: Melodies are clearly tighter ("Catching On" is a great first single). This record shows how efficient bad relationships and a** hole friends can be to song writing as heard through out the album. "Voices", a rockin' opener raging against dogmatic plastic friends, "Burning Pages" coming down on a naļve, emotionless, drama queen from a past relationship, "Fake Infatuation" smashing on a relentless, obsessed teeny bopper, and closing it off with "Leafless Clover," a song that's a little more personal; a deep journey into the mind of a teen belonging to a drunken, abusive father (hence the name "Leafless Clover"). Overall, the album is an amazing debut of The Curves unique and diverse musical style. The collaborative efforts of all the band members made this album a force to be reconed with. Jeff Gray's always-great song writing slapped with Chris Hunter's outstanding riffs was helped out by Todd Dougless' new sound and brilliant inputs. Smash the cherry on top with Brian Boozer's amazing technical compositions to tie it all together and you have The Curves!
