Press Reviews
Hang up and Hold On is Good By March's first release and a short one at that. The six song release from these Northern Kentucky pop-punkers clocks in at roughly 16 minutes.
But who ever said being short was bad though? The band rushes through all six catchy songs with enthusiasm, and then it ends all to fast. Literally. You'll find yourself sitting there wanting more. The CD starts off with "Another Song to Break Up to". This is the only song on the album which is about standing up and saying "fuck you" to an ex girlfriend. The rest of the songs are about getting over lost love and helping your friends up when they are down.
Highlights of the disc include "Hold On", which slows the album down and "Yellow". The chorus - drive to drive to New Jersey - just to follow the call, follow the call of my heart - drive to drive to New Jersey- even though we've never met- is the best part about this CD and a great way to end the short 16 minute journey. I almost hopped in my car and drove to New Jersey to find the girl he was talking about.
Anywho, Hang up and Hold On fills my craving for infectious pop-punk. It is nothing groundbreaking for the music industry, but a solid release nonetheless from a group of 18 and 17-year-olds who have a huge up-side. Every band member is 18 or younger according to their website (www.goodbymarch.com) and they have talent to build on. Look for the name Good by March at local Cincinnati shows in the future and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. Their only scheduled show at the moment is March 8th at Perfect North Slopes with Bottom Line and The Curbsquirrels.
