Artist description
Nonpareilyx is a dynamic trio of MCs that place
their focus on creativity, originality, and energy.
Their razor sharp witt, clever lyrics, and original
beats are a throw back to the days when Hip Hop
was about displaying skill. These guys like to
have a good time, and it shows throughout their
music.

Artist History
Breinchild (C.Jenkins) and M.T. Mind (A. Jenkins)
started rhyming in San Jose, CA back in 1996. The
first version of Nonpareilyx was solidified in 1997
with the brothers rhyming with their cousin, Infanest
(R.Harris), and delivering darker and more spiritual
messages throught their music. At the same time, K-Style
(K.Bluff) formed a group called 425 in Kirkland, WA,
and was stacking his tongue twisting rhymes until the
group broke up. The three met at a mutual friend's
New Year's Eve party in 1998 in a cypher that left
all participants equally impressed. K-Style, M.T.
Mind, and Breinchild started working together on a
couple of projects, and realized that their combination
was an undeniable success waiting to explode. The
three worked together to purchase the equipment
needed to produce their own music, learned how to
use it, and got to work on their debut album
'NO EQUAL'. They moved in together, quit their
jobs, and started promoting 'NO EQUAL' every-
where they possibly could. They've spread throughout
the Pacific Northwest, California, and Nevada, and
are currently working on their second album in an
attempt to bullyfoot their way into the eardrums of
the entire West Coast! |

N.O.N.P. has no equal
By Mike Caster

Starting with "N.O.N.P" and ending on the note
of "Bombthreat," Nonpareilyx's release "No Equal"
has amazing power and potential as an independently
produced album. Nonpareilyx gets their name from the
word "nonpareil," meaning unequaled and unrivaled, and
the slang for lyrics, "lyx." The voices of Breinchild,
M.T. Mind and K-Style tear up the tracks and rap about
matters of all of us can relate to.
"No Equal" ranges from speaking to those who feel the
weight of the world on their shoulders in "Breakdown"
to taking some time out from rapping to speak out against
the growing fad of burning discs in "Capt. Burna-Disk."
They create the character, "for those listeners out there
who don't know, Captain Burna-Disk is an entity who beats
asses of many people who burn disks." Their objection to this
practice comes from their idea that burning disks takes money
out of the artist's pocket, food out of the artist's mouth and
clothes off of the artist's back.
The intros to tracks like "The Alley" and "C Intro" make the
listener feel as though they were sitting next to the group
in a car driving down the street on the way to some party.
Nonpareilyx's beats fit in as background at a party or as a
soundtrack to driving down the freeway.
Bringing it down to a serious level, everyone can feel the
melodious voice of Jessica Matsui joins the group in "Fair
Elisa." Elisa is a pretty girl, loved by everybody, and
lamented over by the voice of the track. In the beginning,
she is a good student and a happy girl, but as the words flow
on, she slips into sin. The song tells how she loses her desire
in the flame of her lighter.
Orgies and drugs became Elisa's oxygen to breathe. As the song
beats on, she gets a full scholarship, but instead she wants to
play. It leaves the listener with these horrible images, "…Even
though I knew she was high. I sure thought she was fine to drive.
So I let go. I shouldn't have though…cuz she would still be alive...
hit by a semi…words can't describe the way...her and her friend just
stood still until... death on impact." Elisa could be a hundred girls
in a hundred schools, and the words strike too close. "Fair Elisa, just
a little girl hold on…"
The power flows from one track to another. Nonpareilyx's rhythm and lyrics
are creative and observant, and while they clearly know how to rap lightheartedly,
they can also turn to something serious and address troubling social issues. With
time and refinement, their already great sound will truly become something of no equal.
