Artist description
All right, as the other guys haven't gotten around to it, I am taking it upon myself to write a brief description of our band and members.
Zero Hour is a band of close friends that met in beautiful Auburn, AL and that share a love of music and a distaste for the majority of crap that floods our airwaves.
I will discuss influences on the individual level so that Alan and Mike may make any adjustments that they deem necessary.
Michael Nied is an accomplished song writer and rhythm guitarist, as well as, a sort of rock n' roll jack of all trades.
To me, Michael's guitar, vocal melodies and lyrics always seem to wreak of creativity and innovation, he is capable of playing the bass better than most bassists I've known, has a great sense for percussion, and is a fantastic song writer.
Mike's influences are mainly in the grunge, indie rock and alternative arenas.
They include: Smashing Pumkins, Deftones, Weezer and a much longer list of better or lesser known and talented groups. Michael also acts as the president of the Darth Maul Fan Club, enjoys long walks on the beach and hates it when I call him to remind him about practice.
Alan Hunt leaves me in awe every time he finishes a guitar solo or lead part to our songs.
He trained himself in classical guitar and has spent close to ten years doing nothing but honing his skill and writing original music. Alan's influences include Metallica, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jimi Page, Andres Segovia, Chistopher Parkening, Julian Bream and too many classical performers for me to remember.
Alan's hobbies include finger painting, researching his Scottish heritage, initiating group hugs and he is the second largest Sea Monkey breeder in the Southeast.
I guess that leaves me, Joseph.
I spend my time trying to come up with vocal melodies/ harmonies and lyrics that do our music justice. I don't count myself as the best song writer of the group, but I'm working on it.
My influences are as follows: Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Counting Crows, Ani Difranco, Elliot Smith, Simon and Garfunkel, Blind Melon and Queen.
When we're not practicing I am typically teaching (yes, I actually get paid), in church (yes I'm serious), concocting ridiculously pitiful and immature practical jokes, and thanking God that I met two such gifted musicians/ songwriters and have the privilege of making music with them.
We are currently replacing our bassist and drummer, but when those final members are established, I will provide you their information.
Thanks for your interest.
