About the X-Angels--
Tom McGriff writes the bulk of the Angels' material, sings lead vocals, and practices the great lost art of rhythm guitar on a beat-up Telecaster through an old Vox AC30. After Knocking around Portland in his early days, then spent 15 years in L.A., brushing up against the big-time. Came back to town in the early '90s with a batch of new tunes and a vision that became the X-Angels. Steven James Wright's deep-roots guitar style, soulful vocals and songwriting skills add a dynamic dimension to the X-Angels' sound. Steve is well known as the former lead guitarist for Little Women, a band that gained a huge following throughout the West in the 1980s. Later he was the leader of Skinhorse, a powerful rock 'n' roll band that made a splash on the Portland club scene Rich Gooch -- Look up "been there, done that" in the dictionary and there's a picture of Gooch. From his trip across the pop music heavens with Quarterflash, to his pioneering roots-rock outfit the Razorbacks, Gooch's deep bass grooves have kept him on the short list of the Northwest's best bass players.
