Press Reviews
On his intelligent debut album Worthlittle, Aaron Pendland paints a dream landscape of organic electronica. 14 tracks offer up a variety of moods ranging from happy and bouncy on "7 sixty 7" and "Wake up!" to melancholy and tragic on "Train vs. Penny" and "Vocal Passage". Movie soundtrack comes to mind on many of the purely instrumental tracks that comprise the bulk of the work. If I had to pull singles off this album, I'd start with "Motor (MotM)", with it's traveling horns and smooth sampling makes it one of
the more danceable tracks. Next would be my favorite song on the album: "Chess with Strangers". The subdued lyrics and conscious use of timing on tacks like "Definitely" show Aaron's thoughtfulness to the production process while keeping the work sounding fresh. It's hard to put Worthlittle into a particular genre but while listening I was reminded of early Sky Cries Mary's as well as Isao Tomita.
