Artist description In September 2001, two major events occurred. The first is common knowledge. The second would be the birth of Santa Rosa, CA. based hard rock band, three within. three within is comprised of Matt Helman, Brian Becker, and Nate Lamar. Matt, front man and guitarist, is the brain behind the music. He started his musical career in 1981 at the age of 4 studying violin. Since then, he has trained vocally, and studied an array of musical styles and instruments. Brian, who covers the low end of the frequency spectrum, began his musical aspirations from birth. He played side by side with his dad, drumming on any surface he could reach with drumsticks. Later, he learned why a piano has 88 keys and became an accomplished jazz pianist. Currently, bass guitar is his primary focus. Nate keeps it all together with his hard-hitting drumming style. When he was 8 years old, he was required to take piano lessons, only as a means to justify playing drums, his life long ambition. He has since become an authority on a wide variety of drumming styles and techniques. With a tight repertoire and the ability to improvise on stage, they strive to create a sound that will move the soul. With influences ranging from such bands as Tool, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Deftones, and The Doors, three within has forged a unique blend of music that draws from each of their diverse musical backgrounds. three within has just released a six-song promotional EP. The lyrical content includes such topics as personal struggle, emotional roller coasters, and dramatic relationships. three within is a band that is determined to reach millions. They believe, as many do, that energetic music can be used as a means to inspire the spirit.
