Artist History
See You started life out in the mid 80's as an all synth band called Sirocco Egalite, comprising of 3 members (Frank Pearson, Gary Sloman & Mark Jennings). The music was a dark and hard electronic sound comprising of many experimental samples. In the late 80's the group disbanded over musical differences, so Gary & Mark recruited the services of an old friend, Jason Rawley - Lead Singer, a female singer, Michelle and a guitarist, Mike. The newly formed outfit became Riff Raff.
Riff Raff's new sound was more uplifting and lighter and done more to suit the chart music at the time. In '87 Riff Raff entered the National Band of the Year competition and managed to get through to the finals held at Ronnie Scotts Night Club in London. On the night Riff Raff came 5th but this was still a major achievement considering they were only formed 5 months earlier and beat off around 10,000 entries to get to the finals. After the disappointment of the competition, Riff Raff played a few more gigs before both Michelle and Mike left. Mark, Gary & Jason went in search of a new guitarist and found the very talented Andy Beck.
The music started to get more serious and rockier. The combination of sequencers and rock guitar gave the band a fresh new, punchy, dynamic, catchy sound and with these new high tempo, catchy melodies the band once again tried their luck in entering the National Band of the Year competition '90.
The band, now called Facade amazingly managed to get through to the finals and at that point in the competitions history, no band had managed to get to the finals twice. The Finals were this time held at Slough, but once again luck was not on their side, during their big performance there was a power surge resetting some of the equipment causing everything to reset it self. However despite this disaster Facade still managed to come 4th. They went on to play a few more gigs and some popular venues on the gigging circuit and finally retreated into the rehearsal rooms and make do studios to concentrate on just writing songs.
