Artist History
Out of the ashes of one of Roadrunner Records' most promising acts of 2000, DOWNER, comes a new breed of rock band. de ville may have a guitar player (Aaron Silberman) and bass player (Jed Hathaway) in common with Downer, but that is where the similariti es end.
Adding another level of complexity and a decided sense of style to their
presentation, de ville concoct music of "equal parts angst, emotion and sex,"
according to drummer Andy Mackenzie. Between vocalist Kevin Montalvo's
introspective lyrics, Silberman's crushing riffs, Hathaway's deep-rooted melodies and Mackenzie's convulsive tribal beats, they stylistically combine to defy common definition.
