Artist History
The Stairs formed three years ago in Boston,
Massachusetts with Ryan Walsh (guitars, vocals), Evan
Sicuranza (guitars, keyboards, vocals), and Eric Meyer
(drums). Originally, they recorded on old 4 tracks
recorders to put together bizarre pop songs and sound
collages. In the past year things have changed as the
band has begun to play live, record a full length
album, and worry the band's respective parents very
much. This past summer John Ling, Emma Westling, and
Robert Johansen joined the band to fill in the bass,
vocals, and keyboard parts respectively.
When asked to describe the sound of The Stairs Walsh
talked about the possibility of sixties pop and rock
being influenced by current musical trends before
Sicuranza cleared his throat and Walsh inexplicably
became quiet. Meyer commented, "It's good. I hope
people listen." Recently a foundation from their
hometown of Dedham, Massachusetts gave them a grant to
record an album and allow us to make a sizable number
of copies which they will either distribute by selling
CDs at show and online. Conditions of the grant
called for many guest musicians from Dedham, a "draw
the album cover" contest for the elementary school
kids in town, and a documentary of the making of the
CD. The CD is about 65% complete and they hope to
have it done by late spring/early summer. The album
title is going to be called "The Day Is Unfolding As
It Should" and it's definitely sizing up to be their
most realized project yet.
