Artist History
London based band LaMotta’s innovative combination of infectious pop rock tunes and intelligent songwriting ability has rendered the band a tour-de-force on the UK gig circuit this year.
LaMotta was established when Steven Cook (lead vocals) started to work with Tommy Gibbs (guitar) to form an exceptional song writing duo. Tommy’s guitar work laid the perfect carpet for Steven’s soulful, quirky vocals to embrace on. The skill full finger works of Tommy is relished by many and especially by Ivor Talbot (Divine Comedy). “Tommy’s guitar work is exceptional and refreshing,” he recently said about LaMotta’s guitar player.
The next addition was Darren Grocutt (percussion). Darren played in various bands in and around Wolverhampton before beating the skins for LaMotta .
The final member to complete the four piece was James Thompson (bass). His style was simply best described by Marc Freegard the producer of the Breeders’ song “Cannonball”: “Duncan’s bass playing rocks!”
All in all, the combination of talent has made LaMotta’s music a straightforward audio
experience. LaMotta just grabs both your brain and your heart to force you to shake your stuff.
