Artist description
The Flower Leperds were an early eighties punk/junkie-rock band from the LA area. They were forced into submission so the various band members could persue solo careers in drug abuse. There were basically two incarnations of the Flower Leperds. The original group is the one featured here(1983-1985. The Leperds quickly reformed and shuffled members and ended up with Tony Montana(Adolescent) on vocals with Jeff Wolfe being the only member from the original group. The original Flower Leperds were way ahead of their time and many later bands such as Faster Pussycat and LA Guns knowingly or unknowingly adopted the Leperds punk/sleaze/goth/glam/trash look and sound. R.I.P. Flower Leperds!!! (1983-1990,91)(or sometime around there) |

Artist History
Mario Valencia aka Dick Jism tells the story of the Leps like this:
"MARK ROTH, we started this thing that some make a DEAL about!! All we did was come back from SIRDAR of the THE DULL'S house. Remember they were playing in his garage... trying a new song (ZEBRA MAN) and we couldn't remember the name of that song. Thats how we came up with FLOWER LEPERDS. Oh yeah we were doing a whole lot of drinking at that time (LOWENBRAU??) we thought thats how it {Leperds} was spelled ???"
"We had a shitty lil band with local fools and tried to make the band happen, but it needed something, we didnt know what so we got rid of Arnold Cruz and got JEFF WOLFE-GUITAR(from the HAPPY BAND). GOOD GUY, BAD CHOICES, TOO BAD, MY FRIEND...R.I.P. He schooled himself of OLD PUNK by having some of us draw out maps of the starwood/ cukoos nest/ atomic cafe' etc. so he could fake his being part of the scene before his time."
"We needed something again so, ROBIN CRUZ was replaced with MARK BANKS/DRUMS (not BRETT BANKS! thats BRET MOLTZ! MR RUBBLE!) and then we got Mr.CHRIS BOWD-GUITAR who we stole from MODERN INDUSTRY!!! SORRY GUYS!!! Then Banks was out and we got MARK DUDA/ DRUMS (Another MODERN INDUSTRY)...He was the lil dude with the big ass CHROME SLINGERLAND KIT !!! a fake black ludwig before that!!!"
"And we went around and around with this and that, then chris left the band and we got our first real disfunctional kid in the band: TAZZ from ATOMS!!! Way before he would ever play for DECRY he played GUITAR for us. and he was out and bouncing around and.. JOHNNY NO-BUDDY/REDD CROSS O.G. tried to drum but didnt cut it so we went back to MARK DUDA & CHRIS BOWD!!! THEY WERE BACK!!! much more stable, and we all had issues, but we played! so THAT WENT ON FOR A WHILE.. Then... MARK ROTH/VOCALS was out and MARK OLSON/VOCALS was in!!!"
"We had the guy from SIN 34 for a week on guitar, that didnt work out!!! TAZZ in AGAIN -THEN OUT again THEN WE FOUND ??? !!!!!!!SHANE ENHOLM!!!!!!!who, even though people dont believe it, didn't introduce DOPE to the FLOWER LEPERDS, but you know what they say, we look for friends that do as we do!!! and SHANE WAS IN!!! the FLOWER LEPERDS went on to do our thing!!!! GOOD OR BAD IT WAS DONE and for the most part we had some real good times on the road and home!!!! MR DUDA I know you can vouch forthat!!! RIGHT???"
"TONY ADOLESCENT, he was our ROADIE!!! and liked it!!!! us too!! then MARK DUDA WAS OUT and CHINESE MATT YOUNG-DRUMS was in!!! MARK OLSON/VOCALS QUIT to marry a flower leperd chick, CANDY BETTY, and we needed a singer. So just like AC/DC we got the ROADIE to sing- TONY ADOLESCENT A K A/TONY MONTANA!!! thus TONY ADOLESCENT and the FLOWER LEPERDS!!! we got XXX RECORDS, I MARIO VALENCIA,THE LAST O.G. FOUNDING MEMBER WAS TIRED OF ALL THE SAME OLD SONGS, WE RECORDED FOR TWO RECORD CO.S BOTH S H I T !!!!!!! ..AND I QUIT THE BAND!!!"
"THAT WAS 1986-87 and all the weaker links came in and became part of the jeff and tony circus and the crappy songs that came to be, and tony brandenburg, you need to pay the real song writers of those songs you tagged your name to!! songs that were in play way before you were ever part of the FLOWER LEPERDS!!!! THATS FLOWER LEPERD HISTORY UP UNTIL I QUIT THE BAND IN 1986/87 thanx to all that were part of that band , you all know who you are........what ever happened-if bad, SORRY, if not, FUCK IT!!!!!"
"There were alot of good times, I hope they were good for you. thanx for reading my shit, somebody had to tell the real story of how it happend !!!! mario valencia /AKA Dick Jism-LEAD" BASS!! OUT!!"
