The Cogs have been called "Elastica on speed" by indie-rock bible, Big Takeover. The Cogs have released several singles and CDs in US and UK that have attracted the attention of both indie and mainstream rock press. Their last CD, Viva!, was the #1 record for Jan. 2000 at college-radio's hallowed KALX in Berkeley. The band's first CD was a 5-song Ween tribute called Absolute Ween.

    Press Reviews
Review: The Cogs' "Viva!" -- Kerrang! Magazine, July 3, 1999 -- By James Sherry: "KKKK! Trashy Big Apple punks with a neat line in tunes. New York City has always been the best breeding ground for filthy, highly-charged rock 'n' roll. Long before the media called it punk, the likes of the Ramones, Richard Hell and the Velvet Underground were laying down the foundations for a new glut of guitar-wielding gangsters - and many years later, five-piece brat-punks The Cogs are no exception. Ten songs long and over in less than 20 minutes, 'Viva' jumps around your head like an excitable child strung out on too much cola, and from beginning to end manages to sound like every cool punk rock band under the sun. 'Secrets and Lies' nicks the key riff from The Damned's 'New Rose', while 'David's Mother' sounds like a Pixies song being played by The Queers. Music for people with short attention spans." Also reviewed in Melody Maker, NME, Big Takeover, New York Press, Island Ear, Newark Star Ledger, Alternative Press, and More.
