What do you get when you cross an angry chick from the trailer park with a couple of no good cowboy savants? The answer is Plaster of Paris, Texas and a slug to the stomach. Spawned by Boston’s thriving hard rock scene, POPT melds former members of Malachite (Winner WBCN Rock n Roll Rumble), and envelope-pushers Flamethrower, into a phat joint of chugging core loops and tirades of love gone wrong. |

CMJ Jackpot Selection, issue 483 --- Some female vocalists play up the soft side of their femininity, some play up the powerful side, others don't incorporate gender into their singing either way, but still others - and they're very few - get up there and belt it out of their hearts and guts like, well, sort of like a man. Plaster Of Paris, Texas' snarling bassist/vocalist Jhen Kobran fits into that last category (along with other balls-y women like Thalia Zedek of Come, for instance).
