Artist description
Bomber Records recording artist DISPATCH (formerly known as One Fell Swoop) has been writing, performing, and recording since 1995. Rooted in rock, reggae, and funk, DISPATCH music may best be described as a self-branded style of "tri-vocal funkcoustic instrument-swap groove." Whether laying it back with a reggae vibe, wailing on acoustic guitars, or jamming on electric-driven grooves, the intensity of the band’s three part vocals and harmonies remains front and center: "It’s the signature of their sound," says Bernie Leadon (founding member of the Eagles). And DISPATCH is only three: Braddigan, Chetro, and RePete…three bandmates, and three frontmen. Their live show involves frequent instrument trading, and many on-the-fly changeovers between both acoustic and electric set-ups. The varying styles, percussive jams, raps, and intricate harmonies have earned DISPATCH a tight underground following from coast to coast. |

Artist History
DISPATCH has recorded four albums to date. Their debut CD, silent steeples (Bomber, 1996), displays much of the band’s acoustic strength, while their electric follow-up, Bang Bang (Bomber, 1997), lays a solid groove throughout. Four-Day Trials, released on February 25th (Bomber, 1999) was born out of a long weekend recording session turned vamp…a spontaneous rolling of tape that ended up capturing much of the band’s live energy in the studio. Most of the tracks are first takes, and an improvisational element remains throughout. DISPATCH has sold well over 28,000 albums.DISPATCH has just released its latest recording, Who Are We Living For. Most of this high intensity recording was captured at Bearsville Studios in New York with the exception of three tracks…recorded at London Bridge Studios in Seattle with Rick Parashar (Pearl Jam, Blind Melon). The recording was mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in NYC. DISPATCH is always sending it out live. They are playing to capacity crowds on college campuses and clubs along the East Coast and plans are in motion for an extensive cross-country tour. DISPATCH has sold-out numerous clubs in Boston and New York City, and the band is quickly becoming a favorite on the college/prep school circuit. They have been added to heavy rotation on Nashville’s Lightning 100.1 FM, and have been heard regularly in Denver, Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, and Burlington. Now with four solid self-produced records under their belt, DISPATCH continues to be known for what they do on stage; and if you’re within earshot you can’t help but move… |
