Artist description
Cream of Tartar are a four piece outfit, borne out of the independent inner city band scene of Melbourne, Australia. Whilst starting out with a lineup of two guitars, bass and drums, we experimented with violin and cello for the recording of our debut CD - '15g net'. Our sound has changed somewhat recently with the dropping of one guitar and the permanent inclusion of the violin. We believe our music invokes a sense of dark storytelling with bold melodies and an eastern ambience. |

Artist History
Cream of Tartar formed four years ago out of the ashes of the now defunct Honeywagon. After several years playing around Melbourne's independent band venues, we recently got off our collective arse and recorded a CD; It's 42 minutes long, 9 songs wide and weighs 15g net. We are currently writing new material and planning an east coast tour of Australia. |

Press Reviews
"The spoken word intro to 'Mary-anne' tantalizes somewhat and is a good indication of where Cream of Tartar are comming from. Add liberal doses ofblack humour with lush instumentation, and you get a bit of a handle on defining their original style."(Mark McKay - 'Rip it up' magazine Australia). "Cream of Tartar are a four piece band that knows how to make a few simple chords sound professionalwithout even trying. A few of the songs are intrumental and this is where the bands true talent really begins to show. These guys really know how to write music and play it even better." (Lauren Mooney - 'Beat' Magazine, Australia.) |
