Looking for something different? How about A Different Kind of Cop? ADKOC is loud, angry, in your face, noisy, gritty industrial music for God. When I got some Cop music (namely, "God-7 Structure-0," the most recent release, and a previous disc, "Another Everyday Occurrence"), the music had to grow on me. But once it did, I appreciated the hard, edgy, electronic, distorted rock. Tracks like "02" (yes, the songs on "God-7" are numbered, not named, heh heh) on "God-7" piledrive forward, in this case with hammering siren-like whoops aiding the percussion. One of the best tracks on "God-7" is "06," basically a dark ambient piece. "07" is also good, using a scaffolding of industrial music to support sound bites of a preacher. "1T6," track two on "Occurrence," is a call to social revolution. "Conscience" and "Machine Humaine" are great-sounding tracks and are closer to being something you might hear on the dance floor. (A particularly fun item is the opener for "God-7" - it starts with a scream that suddenly breaks off into a cough. Then the scream kicks in again, along with driving music, and holds out for something like a minute. I don't know if it's for real or looped but either way it's cool!) - Kristofer Upjohn (Pine Bluff Commercial)
