Artist description
Many Country fans call me too Rock, while many
Rock fans will often call me too Country. This
sounds kind of corny, but I literally am a little
bit Country and a little bit Rock n' Roll. |

Artist History
When Rich was 10 years old, his mom made a comment
regarding his booming voice. "Your voice is very
loud," she said. "You should be a singer." Rich
took her to heart and began singing when he turned
14. He laughs now as he jokes that she got the
booming voice part right but she forgot to check
him for pitch. It is with this kind of honesty
that Rich approaches his music, crafting songs
with a consciousness that reaches out to touch
the hearts and heads of his audience.
Rich grew up listening to his dad play Johnny
Cash tunes on an old Gibson guitar while his mom
kept the radio tuned into the latest top forty.
Bombarded with conflicting musical styles, Rich
decided to embrace all he heard, leading him to
what is now an appreciation of a wide range of
musical styles and genres. In his teens, like
most idealistic kids, he formed a band to become
a "rock star." After high school, the band broke
up and Rich went to university where he attained
a Bachelor of Arts in English. After completing
his degree, he recorded and produced a pop/rock
Christmas album, "Santa's Rockin' Band." Along
with 8 re-arranged standards, Chambers recorded
two of his own songs for the album. Recently,
he has released an independent CD with the band
Half-Hour Late. The album "In November" contains
9 tracks written by Rich as well as a Johnny Cash
cover (one for Dad) and two co-written with the
band. Rich currently performs his originals with
Half-Hour Late and solo with just his guitar and
his microphone.
Chambers has played in rock, jazz, and country
bands and sang in small and large chorus ensembles.
But his first love has always been songwriting
with his voice and guitar. What may have been a
flippant remark by a mother towards her
10-year-old son has become a poignant metaphorical
comment regarding the adult sensibilities and
songwriting of Rich Chambers. His mom was right.
Rich does have a booming voice.
