    Artist History
Gary has always had a keen interest in music. He learned to play the keyboard at an early age. Taking keyboard lessons for 14 years culminated in the learning of the classics, his favorite composer being Bach. Gary is no new comer to performing and had his first public performance at age 10. He started writing his own music at about 14 years old. He admits that the early stuff was pretty rough and is never performed today. Performing with various local rock bands during the 1970s provided Gary with musical influences from various musicians and his song writing skills continued to develop. During the 1980s Gary put his music career on hold to raise a family. " I needed a real job with health care benefits to take care of my wife and two daughters." Always having a knack for all things mechanical and electrical he got a job with a local New Jersey medical device company as a technician. Eventually he would go on to continue his education and receive his BS in engineering and move to an Research and Development Engineering position within the same company. Although his family obligations took priority in his life, they would not squelch his love for music. He continued to experiment with new styles of music and write new songs. A new inspiration would come along with the gift of an acoustic guitar from his wife, Suzanne. Any time not spent with his family, would now find Gary teaching himself to play that guitar. Playing the guitar opened up a new facet to his music and his song writing took on a whole new sound. Morphing from classical orchestral rock sounding keyboard pieces to an acoustic folk sound allowed him even more expression in his music. Musically, the 1990's were an interesting time for Gary. Returning to a simpler sound, he now thrived on the new and changing sound of country music. Never able to give up performing he found time to play a few gigs a year. Mostly at parties or weddings where people sought non-traditional music. Buy now his song writing had reached the point of maturity and he longed to record his original music. Gary had always a vision for his music. " I've always wanted to record my music in a way that I have total control (if that is really possible) over the sound." "To play all the instruments and record all the tracks myself." The year 2000 was the culmination of that vision. His daughters were older now and had moved out of the house, and there was that spare bedroom not being used. After months of technical research he set out with credit card in hand and starting purchasing the equipment he would need to build a small recording studio in that spare bedroom. It took well over a year to complete the project and another 6 months to learn the technology that would allow him to record his music. "I love having control over my music and being able to create each track as I hear it in my head." " I have finally got it to where I can record, mix, and complete the mastering processing in my own studio." " Heck, I have even taken a shot at doing the graphics and cover design for my first CD." His first CD, titled "Oceans and Mountains" has some of his early music as well as some very new songs and captures a unique facet of roots rock. " I have so much more music I want to record, and I am still writing new songs". So here the story ends, or is this just the beginning.
