Artist History
Fletch started his rap career when he was just 12 years old. A young Fletch was inspired by a Christian rapper named D-Boy. After hearing the positive message that D-Boy presented, Fletch decided that he too wanted to use rap as a means of reaching people with a positive message. Fletch's best friend at the time, Patrick Clough (KDJ, Padrino, etc.), started getting into the music too. Clough's parents were musicians and had a home studio in the upstairs part of their house. Soon Clough was making beats on an Alesis HR-16 drum machine and the two smalltown boys were rapping. The two MC's/producers called themselves the Sonz Of Lite, and went on to recored a few songs together in their hometown of Mason City, IL. After high school, Fletch and Clough decided to attend Greenville College. Fletch was still very dedicated to rap music, but Clough decided to concentrate on his studies and lost interest in the music. Fletch would go on to meet a few people who would have profound impact on his career in the hip-hop world. He teamed up with an MC by the name of David Baird to do a few shows. Baird was a more expeirenced MC and took Fletch under his wing and taught him a little more about the style of writing that he had developed. Baird would go on to get married and the two lost touch. Also that year, Fletch met a cat who was coming up with some beats, Jay Money. Money had a track that he was doing for a project and asked Fletch to rap on it. The rest is history. Fletch was ready to start working on his solo album and Jay Money had been working on some beats. Fletch had met another cat that was into hip-hop and decided to invite him up for a studio session. J. Roach (J-Dot) came up for that session and started rhyming over a Jay Money track. Roach then brought his friend Dalexand into the mix, and Mergence was born. The group went on to record their album Amalgamation and do a couple shows at local venues in Greenville, IL. The group wouldn't last long though, as Dalexand moved to Canada. The three remaining members would go on to form the Allynse. During this time Fletch was perfecting his style and recording songs for his solo album Erace the Hate. Fletch is also working on the first Allynse album and his second solo album. |
