Artist description
Sven Wolff's love for KRAFTWERK and analog devices has never been a big secret. The head of the electro pop band DUST OF BASEMENT carves another notch on the bedpost of ambient on his solo effort and he is using a retro electronics knife to do it. It is great that he could combine this with his interest in heavy construction site machinery and he became the self-proclaimed leader of swivel crane ambient. Late night TV ambient in its purest form. |

Press Reviews
SIDE-LINE (Belgium) wrote:
It is very sirupy and pleasing in the beginning. The degree of endurable New Age interchangeability is excessive on the first two tracks, but the amplitude of the following tracks is also delivering a reading towards the more rhythmic and catchier regions which are much more exciting.
"Zick-Zack-Fahren" was a minor hit on the internet (song of the day at www.mp3.de). It is followed by "Kippmoment" which is an exception to the usual style by incorporating experimental glitch and digital creaking. A positive exception mind you. From here on the Tangerine Dream touch is taking over again, a touch which sounds as if it listened to a lot of Pole (dub echo, scratchy field recordings (?), vocal samples).
These tracks have been created in the course of the last 5 years and thus the stylistic scope is not surprising. The mix of symphonic ambient harmlessness and dubby sedative effect is not really my thing and often turns into average material, but I do fancy the more experimental tracks, dipped in more sounds, digital impurities and droning hypnotism ("Tragweite", "2001 im Weltbau"). Also helping out on two tracks were Dust of Basement singer Brigitta Behr and Bakterielle Infektion head keyboard player Roger Semsroth. |
