Artist description
The DIY Revolution CD sampler is the product of a group of bands that have pulled together to accomplish more collectively than almost any band could do on its own. Our goal is to introduce our music to as many people as possible. Each band has contributed to this effort to make this CD possible and believes in themselves and their music enough to bypass the tradition of relying on record labels to bring their music directly to you, the listener. None of the bands on this sampler are "sitting on the sidelines" waiting to be discovered. Together we have pressed 20,000 copies of this sampler to be given away for free. This is our statement. We are taking matters into our own hands to bring our music to the public. Through initiative, determination and organization we have done this project without any outside help. We do not oppose record labels (the existence of or affiliation with), but fully encourage people to take action themselves without waiting for the help of organizations such as record labels, radio stations, or magazines.
Getting Involved. If you like any of the bands on this CD, please do what you can to help support them. All of the bands have CDs and merchandise available or being released soon. However, there are other ways that people can help the bands on the sampler besides buying CDs or merchandise. If you do a zine or contribute to one, write a review of the sampler or the band(s) you like or do an interview with them. If you book shows, contact the band(s) you like about playing a show in your area sometime. If you don't book shows or work with a zine, you could help the band(s) you like by telling your friends to download their mp3s. You could also help by passing out flyers or promotional materials in your area. The main thing is that we'd like to get as many people involved as possible. Every little bit helps. If nothing else, please e-mail or write the band(s) you like and just let them know that you appreciate them. Every band loves receiving words of praise, support, or encouragement.
Join the Revolution. If you're interested in helping the DIY Revolution effort in any way (distribution, promotion, recruiting, etc…) or if you're in a band and would like to participate in an upcoming sampler, please visit our website for more information on how you can get involved. For bands that are interested, we are in the process of organizing a variety of samplers involving different genres of music, such as punk/ska/ska-core/ska-punk samplers, in addition to future hardcore/metal/metalcore/screamo/hardcore-punk samplers. We also need more people nationwide to help us distribute copies of the samplers and spread the word about this opportunity to bands that might be interested in participating. All the appropriate contact and website information is listed on our website.
Thanks so much. |
