Artist description
The diverse change in style of music has to be Almost Gold’s strong point and can be realised by the cover versions the band play live: - Step On by the Happy Mondays, Molly’s Lips by Nirvana, Twentieth Century Fox by The Doors, The Nobodies by Marilyn Manson and Mellow Yellow by Donovan. Although Almost Gold play covers their heart still lies in writing and performing their own material. They perform a live set including 15 of their own songs. Their own songs being even more diverse than their covers, you’ll find musical style changes throughout the songs, but not so diverse that it becomes inaudible.
Almost Gold are going from strength to strength and have played a couple of gigs with great success at the Green Bottle in Knottingley and The Lion in Castleford. They have also completed their first demo which they have recorded, engineered, produced and mixed themselves on a 4 track recording system, which enabled them to add keyboard and samples to their music giving it more strength and depth. The tracks on the demo include: - ‘Ride With Me’ – A riff fuelled song with catchy lyrics and a beginning not to be missed, ‘Disappear’ – A slow melodic Indie anthem, ‘Tunnel’ – A catchy up-tempo ball rocker with a clever finale and finishing off the demo, ‘No Dedication’ – A Punk masterpiece born to pogo.
All in all Almost Gold is a band for the future and hopefully they will go on to greater things because if they don’t it will only be music’s loss as their potential is massive.

Artist History
Almost Gold are a 3 piece band from Knottingley, West Yorkshire who were formed by Brian Dale (guitar) and Stefan Bailey (drums) after the demise of the original band ‘Purple Orm’. Purple Orm performed in such places as ‘The Duchess of York’ and ‘Virgin Megastores’ both in Leeds. The departure of vocalist Adrian Dean and bass player Ali Wood saw Brian take over on the vocal side and brother Ian drafted in on bass.
With so many changes in personnel and band direction it was formidable that the band name would change to 'Almost Gold' (taken from the song of the same name written and performed by The Jesus and Mary Chain). With Brian now on vocals the band could take a harder punk styled approach but could slip back into a mellow indie style of the former band.
