Artist description
The Tune-Smiths of Tramping Ground spawn original melodic heavy rock riffs and vocals, yielding their unique trademark sound.
The members, having been in many other bands, were in search of a unique name for their band. Not just _any_ name, but rather a name that contained something about their North Carolina heritage... a name that fitted their blend of semi-gothic, tribal, and modern/alternative music sounds... a name free of previous history with other bands... a name without numbers and symbols to make it memorable... The members have always had an interest in the Devil's Tramping Ground, located near Siler City, NC. After much exhaustive research, it was discovered that the name "Tramping Ground" had never been used, recorded under, or registered for a band. The new name was trademarked and copyrighted, a Limited Liability Corp was formed around it (LLC), and Tramping Ground was born!

Artist History
-Tramping Ground released it's first album in late 2001. It was a compilation of low-key original work by Tramping Ground, needed for booking clubs and establishing ourselves in venues that typically wouldn't play the harder bands. It was originally self-titled as "Tramping Ground". We published and distributed 400 copies of this CD. It was later published in small quantities as "Back In The Day". It will be re-released sometime in late 2003 or early 2004 with remastered and updated versions of our original 11 track CD.
- In early 2002, Tramping Ground released a 4 song EP, with some of our newer work. During 2002, we distributed over 1700 copies of this EP.
- In August of 2002, we shot our first live video. It was filmed by Phonoptic Media, then mastered and digitally aged by Denmark Photography. It was included on our Enhanced CD, released later in 2002.
- In September 2002, we worked with Ed Bain, a talented graphics designer and animated short producer (of www.DevilsTrampingGround.com fame!), to produce an animated video to be used as a teaser for the release of -To Nowhere-.
- In October of 2002, -To Nowhere- was released by Tramping Ground. It was an enhanced CD, including 2 music videos, a photo slideshow, band BIOs, Lyrics, MP3s for download...in addition to it being a conventional music CD. Sales are still underway for this release, on our website, and on many music sites around the web. Distribution in music stores should begin sometime in 1st quarter of 2003. To make it interesting (but not too easy), we've scattered several of the songs around the internet on various sites, for free download.
- During 2002, Tramping Ground played 57 shows all around the state of North Carolina.
- Tramping Ground has currently been played on 17 radio stations, and is in regular rotation on several stations.
- During 2002, Tramping Ground was interviewed live on several NC Radio Stations, including a live 35 minute broadcast (complete with a live performance) on WKNC 88.1.
- Tramping Ground too 1st place in a four week long Battle of the Bands in Sanford NC, hosted by "The Mix" and 90.5 "The Alternative".
- Tramping Ground was voted North Carolina's #1 Band for 2002 by BarStar.com.
- Tramping Ground's song, "Hostile", was chosen as "Track of the Day", to be aired January 7,2003 on the internet at http://www.garageband.com/go/2SQ6RG2MEY , on the "front door" of the Hard Rock section of garageband.com .
- In 2002, tramping Ground's acoustic rock version of "Inflicted" held the #157 position on the entire United States chart, on MP3.com. Likewise, the acoustic version of "Help" held #187 position. Considering the tens of thousands of entries in that category, we're sure proud of THAT!
- Fund Raisers and Music Festivals played (in addition to regular shows):
11/15/01 - 9/11 Benefit at MARS Music in Raleigh, NC.
3/23/02- Perception 2002, Garner NC.
