    Artist History
Things About Nothing was formed in July of 2001 by drummer Josh Cyccone, guitarist/vocaist Ryan Harbour and bassist Ben Wixson. The band practiced vigorously from July 2001 to October 2001 to get ready for their first show, the state wide Clutchfest Battle Of The Bands appropriatly hosted at Clutch Cargos. Here, on October 28th Things About Nothing competed against 51 other bands for 1st place. That day, they didn't only play to an appreciative crowd of over 300, they had a revaltion: Maybe they can do this music thing. Things About Nothing won the battle of the bands. The grand prize was 16 hours of recording time at Sound Camp Recording Studios in Warren. During the time preparing for Clutchfest, Things About Nothing headed in to record their 1st 4 song demo at Harmonie Park in Detroit. The CD was pressed and self-released to be ready for Clutchfest. The band pressed CDs from November 2001 to February 2002, selling roughly 250 copies. Through the winter of 2001/2002 the band played the local scene, selling CDs and trying to just get their name out to the public. They played such events as the Wired Frog's 3000 Records Showcase. The band was chosen to be on a nationally released compilation CD titled Buzz Songs Volume One. After this was bestowed upon the band, they realized it was time to record some of their newer, more developed material to contribute to the compilation. The band spent the month of February recording for their 1st full length release at Sound Camp Studios and at Nothing Fancy Studios. All went well, and the band had accieved a great sounding CD that could and would show people that they weren't here to mess around. After recording, the band was ready to start playing shows again. The band sold what was left of the old EPs and and gathered money to get the CD ready for the Art Of Noise at Chippewa Valley Highschool. The response to the CD was great. The band played through the spring and summer of 2002 with a slowing growing fan base right behind them. The band is selling what they can of their CD Another Day, which to date has sold over 500 copies. In the Fall of 2002, Things About Nothing entered the Eisenhower Highschool Battle Of The Bands, trying to show to a new audience that they were a hard working, commitment driven band. After counting the ballets, Things About Nothing was chosen yet again as the battle of the bands winner. With this victory they won more studio time. They're currently working on new material for an EP to be recorded in February, as well as playing new material at shows. The band is busier than ever right now, and there is no break anywhere in site.
