Artist description
With irreverence, wit, and a flair for the absurd, Fake Brain tackles heady subjects like a “philosophy major stoned on punk rock.” (InPittsburghWeekly)
Fake Brain blends influences from British post-punk (The Fall, Wire) to classic American Indie Rock (Built to Spill, Guided by Voices) into a sound that they call “Psychedelic New Wave.” Fake Brain’s Technicolor lyrics and gooey textures have also been dubbed “Comic Book Rock.” And yes – they have a comic book series which tells the story of the band’s birth, death, re-birth, and of course, acquirement of the requisite
superpowers. Episodes 1-4 are available only at their live performances.

Press Reviews
This is what Dylan would sound like, maybe, if he'd grown up listening to Gang of Four. Great beat, smart writing, clever songs...
-offoffoff.com
The songs are brimming with punk rock guitars and just the right amount of catchy hooks swirled into the mix. Add in the sometimes silly lyrics and perfect vocals and you have punk rock circa 1978. The songs are the key; they are well written, tight and succinct.
-CMJ (Jackpot!)
One of those bands that challenges those of us who are asked to describe them. Fake Brain wont give the listener a chance to get bored...you find yourself leaning toward the speaker to catch each line and snickering in agreement.
