Artist description Dean Baktay has been sharing his music and faith for nearly twenty years in ten countries of the world. He has a heart to worship God and connect with people of different races and cultures. Dean is also a gifted teacher and strives to impart his knowledge of music and worship to others in an effort to see them grow. He also loves to speak to young people about the struggles they face in this often troubling world. Dean has been married to his wife Christina for eleven years and together they have three children, Joshua, Jonathan and Linnea. Linnea is the newest addition to their family, having recently been adopted from China............... Dean loves to share his platform and has worked with many musicians in the U.S. and Asia over the years. He wanted his first Album, "Exalt Him Together" to reflect this aspect of his career. The recording is actually a combined effort of nearly twenty musicians, singers and songwriters, mostly from western Pennsylvania. It also has the unique distinction of being recorded in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Having lived in Singapore, Dean has the ability to sing in Mandarin. His vision through this project is that ordinary musicians would combine their talents to touch the hearts of people in other countries............ But since "Exalt Him Together" was a very specialized project for a specific purpose, it's also important to note that Dean's musical style goes way beyond what you'll hear on that album. Dean's concerts have a diversity of styles from contemporary, to ballads, modern and classic rock. He also plays the latest praise and worship as well as the older choruses and hymns.

Artist History "I was born in New York City and grew up in a very poor, single parent household, having lost my father to alcoholism at the age of four. Further troubles at home caused me to leave when I was only fifteen. It was at that time when I had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ and made him the Lord of my life. He brought healing to my heart and saved me from destroying myself. He gave me a purpose to live and set me on a course that would last over twenty years to date, and half way around the world." .......Over the past fifteen years Dean has been to ten countries across Europe, Asia and North America. Some of the highlights of his career include a two month tour of Europe and the former Soviet Union back in the late 1980's. During the mid 1990's he lived in Singapore with his wife Christina, working as a music director and youth leader. In the past few years Dean has had the privilege of doing some public concert touring in mainland China. In 1999 he and his band "The Newboys" gave two performances in the city of Changsha. In March of 2002, he and his band "Re:Generation" completed an eight show tour in Hunan Province. You can click on the images tab to see and read more about this tour.

Group Members Currently Dean is performing primarily as a solo artist. He does however network with many musicians in the Pittsburgh area. With a "get the job done" type tenacity, Dean can pull together the right musicians for the right occasion, having worked in duos, three piece and full band situations.

Instruments Dean has a powerful voice and sings with passion and conviction about the struggles of life and how he has found strength through his faith. He likes to cause people to reflect upon their own lives while drawing them into God's presence. Dean is also an accomplished acoustic guitarist and has several years experience on the bass and drums, combined.
