Artist History
Kara Lafty splashed into the indie rock world with her previous bands, MOPED and SONNY SIXKILLER, both of which charted on CMJ, received rave reviews, and toured nationally. In July 2002, she recruited friends, Ronnie DiSilvestro (Drums), Joann Schmidt (Bass), and John Faye (Guitar/Vocals) to launch her best project yet, THE JANE ANCHOR.
Each member of The Jane Anchor adds a seasoned flavor to the band's ripening sound. John Faye, the former leader of THE CAULFIELDS (A&M Records), contributes seamless backing vocals and crunching rhythm guitar, complimenting Lafty every step of the way. The heavy hands of Ronnie DiSilvestro and the driving bass lines of Joann Schmidt deliver the momentum through twists and turns. With overlapping band histories and musical camaraderie that spills onto the stage, this Philadelphia foursome is making waves at their live shows. Sugar-grit guitar tones and infectious melodies, fueled by a pulsing rhythm section, will have you singing along and exceeding the speed limit. |

Press Reviews
"Combining jagged riffs and angular changes with a sound stripped down to the chassis, Lafty crafts her own brand of ringing hooks and body-jerking backbeats. But it's not just about the breathless, exhilarating sound of this band that makes them a great listen, as Lafty has a way with clever lyrics, which are by turns incisive and inspired. Her dulcet-voiced delivery catches you in its sway, conveying a sense of vulnerability and lovelorn despair." -- Eliot Wilder, Amplifier Magazine |
