Artist History
Trevor Wyatt aka DJ Spilt Milk has been a hip hop vinyl junkie since the late 1980's when he used to spend his hard earned paper route money buying 12" from local Edmonton shop Sound Connection.
In 1995 Spilt Milk started his first club night "WILDSTYLE" with fellow DJs Aamir (Ninsei), Shasta, and Sync. WILDSTYLE was held at RATT, a lounge on the 7th floor of the University of Alberta Students Union building. This night featured a mish mash of hip hop, trip hop, techno, and some eary breakbeat music. Since that time, Spilt Milk started club nights at many Edmonton venues including: Lush, New City, Rebar, Chase, Boiler's Pub, Backroom Vodka Bar, Power Plant, Cristall Lounge, and several others. Over the years, he has also spun at many special events all across western Canada.
In 1996 Spilt Milk started guesting on CJSR radio show CATCH THE BEAT hosted by DJ Tryptomene and eventually took over as host. CATCH THE BEAT continues on in its second decade and can be heard online SATURDAYS 4 - 6 PM MST at www.cjsr.com.
In 1998, Trevor helped open a record store TONE DEF inside Colourblind Clothing with fellow DJs Slacks, Celcius and Playbwoy. In 98/99 BASSKWAKE - a collective made up of TONE DEF employees plus DJ Echo and MC Deadly threw several medium scale events including the SHELLSHOCK SERIES that featured Matty and Sniper as well as several other special events that included Q-Bert, Z-Trip, and DJ Pump.
In early 2000, FOOSH RECORDS was started which is where Spilt Milk is a part time employee specializing in breakbeat sales. Currently, Spilt Milk is involved in promoting small underground club shows as well as his part time job as sales and marketing manager for CJSR FM 88. Look for Spilt's newest breakbeat tracks coming out in early - mid 2002 on his newest venture - his own record label CAPITAL CITY FUNK.
