Artist History
On a dark dismal October afternoon, there sat two talented nobodies. Talking abou terrific things they inadvertantly change terrific in to traffic. "Everything's TRAFFIC!!" was yelled out into the night. "Do you know what else is traffic?..... Gridlock!" Matt and Gary had just thought up the origional name for POG. GRIDlock was to be an experimental three piece rock band with great songs such as Destiny and Pizza. Times were hard.... Gary didn't have a guitar and there were no bass players that either of them knew. But they persued on to find one. They knew of a punk band in the area called 7 Day Weekend, and asked their bassist (Dean) to be the GRIDlock bassist. He said yes. Two weeks later he quit. There was then another struggle to find a new one. By this time Gary had a guitar and him and Matt were already rehearsing like shit! A week later Jamie told them that he could play bass, so they gave him a chance. Unfortunatly he couldn't play bass so he was chucked out!!! GRIDlock went on wondering about their future. Just after then Karla joined. "We must admit, she's better than Jamie!!" was the quote from both Matt and Gary. But all was not well just before their first gig. Karla went to Cypress and left them in the lurch. But there was a miricale..... SLAV! Slav joined as a quick replacement and soon turned out to be shit-hot! His garage was the centre of practice and soon they were ready for ELAST-O-PLAST. Playing with 7 Day Weekend GRIDlock knocked the crowd dead with a suberb performance that lasted over an hour. But one more band, and three encores later they announced the shock departure of Gary (Due to moving) and that they would be recording the following week. And they did. 5K Tailback was recorded the following Wednesday and Thursday after school. That's about it, until March 2002 when Gary came back to Germany to record a new version of Goldstar. A few weeks later Peter joined as yet another bassist. The rest as they say is HISTORY! |
