Artist description The Leading Ladies are classically trained sopranos who collectively have starred in over 100 musicals across the country, including 9 Broadway shows, and have sung with symphonies and orchestras worldwide. Friends and colleagues for many years, the trio had the unique experience of each playing Christine Daaé on Broadway and across the country in Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. Finding that all three had recently relocated to the Los Angeles area, they decided it was the perfect opportunity for a joint collaboration. In 2001 they earned rave reviews for their performance in a gala event at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The concert, A Treasury of Words and Music, was a tribute to the classics of literature and Broadway musicals, from Show Boat in the 1920s, through the golden era of the 40s and 50s, and up through recent years with Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera. This tune-filled evening included duets and trios, ranging from the Andrews Sisters-like "Sing for your Supper" to a trio of "Memory", and a thrilling dueling high-note finale from Phantom. The three women recently reprised A Treasury of Words and Music in a weekend of performances at Theatre West in Hollywood, CA, where they also debuted their show The Holidays, a collection of seasonal music. The program includes a variety of holiday favorites, from the sacred “O Holy Night” to the secular “Sleigh Ride,” and a playful trio of “Santa Baby.” They are currently planning more concerts for a variety of venues and are working on an album to be released later this year.
