Artist History
In August of 2000, Dan and Jason met in a london schoolyard and began a skiffle group named "The Washtubs." Shortly thereafter, Dan bought an acoustic guitar and used a fork and paper clip to create an electric pickup and played through his new boombox. Jason then introduced Dan to Chris, a local sitar expert. The chemistry was heavy in the air, sparks flew, and later they decided to change the band name to Preston and adopt what they called "an electric-acoustic rockabilly-type sound." After a year or so of honing their skills in Chris's basement, the band finally went out on the road. While on tour in ireland, however, jason unexpectedly announced that he would be leaving his bandmates to play the tin whistle for Gibbons the Troubadour, his long time idol. Without a drummer, Chris and Dan were forced to continue playing shows acoustically and were dubbed "the peter pipers of the rock industry" by the european press. Coming back to the States after their dissapointing tour, however, Chris and Dan were greeted by a kind stroke of luck. While summering in Pennsylvania, they stumbled across a cave and a benevolent, gentle hermit that went by the name of Dunkey Monuts. With his muddly basslines, even muddier loin cloth, and misogynistic personality, Preston is now one step closer to completion. |
