    Artist description
Pa'gan Graves (pa'gen gravs) n. Term for the Godless acts buried deep within the hearts of all survivors of childhood abuse. ____________________________________________________________________ Welcome to the shocking and controversial world of PAGAN GRAVES Come and see... what these young artists have unleashed upon the morality of todays music world. Socially conscious bands are on the upswing. Bands with a purpose and with beliefs other than fame or fortune. One of the strongest of these bands is Pagan Graves. With the raw emotion of the lyrics coupled with the relentless pounding from the drums and the guitar crying out demanding justice, this band tells their own story while never neglecting the world around them or the people in it. Each member performs as part of the same body to relay the message in the music, where they collectively squeeze every last drop of emotion out of every note. Viewing Pagan Graves live is an immersion into spiritual chaos...

    Artist History
Pagan Graves frontman Bigcat has been writing and performing for 10 years professionally. Striking out on his own in the spring of 1995, Bigcat decided to create the concept band: Pagan Graves. For the next two years Pagan Graves successfully toured their all-original format, and in a region of America dominated by Country, Folk & Tejano music, Pagan Graves began carving out a loyal fan base in the Southwestern United States. Faced with the mounting outcry for more in the summer of 1998, Pagan Graves entered the studio to record their debut CD. Ten painstaking months later the band debuted their new CD: My Right To Die. By late 1998, Pagan Graves began negotiating with several record labels ultimately signing a distribution agreement with Darksilver Records America in early 1999. While preparing to record the CD: Bring on the Pain, Pagan Graves became a casualty of the 2000 Time Warner/ EMI merger. With their production budget locked in committee for close to a year, Bigcat began looking into new ways to get his message out. The band Black Obsidian offered Bigcat the position of singer/songwriter for their band. Accepting, Bigcat recorded and toured with Black Obsidian from 2000-2002 performing along side top performing acts Hatebreed, Diecast, and Fear Factory. Black Obsidian also performed with Cannible Corpse, Overkill, Soilent Green, Revelation, Incantation and Blister Agent at the 2001 Memphis Metalfest, and they were the headline performer of the 2002 Texas Rockfest. Finally in the Fall of 2002, Pagan Graves were given their outright release, and immediately the band began gathering to complete the journey. Currently, Pagan Graves are in the studio recording the CD: Bring on the Pain. You can expect to hear early cuts by Spring 2003.

Kwis do qua Bigcat Andrade a.k.a Bigcat is primarily of Cherokee descent. Living through a horribly abusive childhood that included all forms of abuse. What first was a fight just for his survival, now has become a life dedicated to exposing all forms of childhood abuse. Bigcat is a writer and poet, but outside of the band he remains mostly a mystery. A few words from Bigcat; There is no difference in being raped as a child, and being thrown under a train except the wounds bleed on the inside. Early it was butchery, but later I found a rotting child in my house. It was my living body that kept denying this little boy a proper burial. I don't know the child they talk about now, and they never met the boy I can on a good day remember being. Michael Birchfield has been at Bigcats side since the origin of Pagan Graves and continues to redefine the guitar to effectively reflect the pain of Pagan Graves music. Birch has been playing guitar for over 10 years. It is his bottom heavy rhythms and commanding leads that drive the energy behind Pagan Graves music. Birch has gained an unusual grasp of the instrument meshing together his power-thrash style with the passion of the blues. His uncanny ability to make the guitar seemingly cry out-loud coupled with the weight of his play will take you past the brink of what you thought was possible. Crushing, pounding, meticulous! These are only a few of the words used to describe Gabe Garcia and his unrelenting style on drums. Known as the quiet one in the band, Gabe is the backbone of Pagan Graves. Considering the heaviness he brings, there is no need to talk. He delivers punishing beats while finely tuning his play into a machine of devastation. A developed style that is dangerously subtle in its attack. He now turns his aggression into his art, while still able to reflect the passion of the song. Pagan Graves are very proud to announce the addition of bassist Doug Brey to the band. Doug has recorded and toured extensively with the band Legion of Divine Punishment. Doug's command of the bass guitar is both exquisite and powerful, and brings a whole new attitude to the music.

    Press Reviews
Dana Mathews of KZRR 94 FM Albuquerque, NM had only this one sentence review: Your f*cking stupid if you do not pay attention to this band! Casey Garner of Edge magazine wrote: They are unlike any band around right now. These artists have broken the bible-belt barrier and created a style of music that fills its listeners thoughts with fantastic samples, unique sounds and historical icons. Dave Marsh of P.A.I.N magazine wrote: Pagan Graves exhibit so much musical maturity that it is hard to believe my Right To Die is only the bands debut effort. Pagan Graves are politically more sophisticated than almost any other group and has the potential to be a great band. Nils Jordan of Thats Metal Magazine Sinn Germany wrote: Very good power-thrash is offered by PAGAN GRAVES from Texas. On eight tracks (49 minutes) changing METALLICA / EXODUS-like Bay-Area parts (at that time, as Lars Ulrich still could hold the beat and the H - team could contribute really heavy riffs) with very cleverly interspersed quiet passages, changes in speed and strong breaks. Thereby the guys from the lone-star-state beside all power have a strong sense for catchy refrains and exciting arrangements (Scarecrow, Nightmare), which holds the CD also long interesting and provide the songs with a high state of recognition. The songs are linked with Intros/Outros, which remind me of Privilege Of Power, but fit here wonderfully. Production (ingenious guitar sound!), professional equipment (10 - page illustrated booklet) and technical skills of the musicians hardly leave any wishes open. Also the lyrics are worth listening (Conspiracy), singer and songwriter Bigcat also sings the feeling parts very convincing. These guys have a very big potential!
