Artist description Cesna MEMBERS: Anthony Jones-guitar, vocals Eric Vasquez-guitar David Olvera-bass, vocals Matt Legrand-drums, percussion Surging the dynamics of the Doors with the eccentricity of Radiohead, Cesna embroiders a rich tapestry of sounds; dark and complex at times, while stunningly simple at others. United and still residing in Austin, TX, the members of Cesna weave ethereal guitar riffs, ominous bass lines, and tribal rhythms, tied with consciousness and integrity. Highlighting the contradictions of life, love, pain, politics, and spirituality, Cesna perpetuates examination of truth in society through their melding of tones, rhythms and lyrics. Within Cesna’s music, one can spot a variety of textures being shaped and manipulated into the band’s unique sound. Influenced by groups such as Jane’s Addiction, Failure, and The Velvet Underground, the members of Cesna have immersed themselves in a wide array of music, and emit themselves back out at you in their own distinctive fashion. Compositions such as “Wave” lull with hypnotism and brim with imagery, while songs like “Paranoia” and “Truth Serum” peak and surprise. Aiming to turn the music industry on its head, Cesna has begun its assault on Austin, TX and continues to plunge forward with a repertoire of eclectic and thoughtfully spun songs. Cesna is currently in the studio recording their full length LP, which will be available in the fall of 2002. Also, Cesna is presently showcasing their music at several Austin venues including The Steamboat, Momo’s and The 6 of Clubs. The band has also submitted several singles to the Austin radio station KLBJ (93.7 fm) and is receiving airplay on the station’s Local Licks Live radio show. Cesna has also released the video “Paranoia,” which is in heavy rotation on the Austin Music Network. Artist History Cesna started as recording project with Matt Legrand and Anthony Jones. After recording several songs the two decided to put a band together. Anthony called his friend David Olvera to play bass and a few months later Eric Vasquez joined the band. The band has a video for "Paranoia" that made it's debut on the Austin Music Network in July 2002. The band will release their first full length CD in September of 2002.
