Artist History
Yellowkid dreams up a unique sound that stems from a combination of musical styles - the atmosphere of the europop landscape with the grit and honesty of american rock. It is the sound of passionate singing, tight rhythms, and soaring guitars that creates this music that is inspiring and long lasting. In late 2000, the band began work on an EP in a barn in rural Pennsylvania. Derek Chafin, the bands producer, converted the barn into a recording studio. Over the course of several months Chafin and the band captured the Yellowkid sound in six songs. The songs were chosen to highlight the ability of the band to combine grit and aggression with complex, delicate textures. In addition to working in the studio, Yellowkid thrives as a live band. The band has played major venues in Philadelphia, NYC, and the surrounding area. The band has shared the stage with the likes of Buffalo Tom, The Violent Femmes, and Everlast.
